Privacy notice
Last updated: 3 November 2026
This notice explains what personal data the WebSentinel.eu marketing site collects, why, the lawful basis for collecting it, how long it is kept, and the rights you have over it. The site is built to be privacy-first, so there is very little to describe. It sets no cookies, writes nothing to your browser's local storage, runs no tracking or analytics script, and loads no third-party code of any kind. The only thing the site itself records is a short server log of each page request, which we reduce to an anonymous country count within five minutes, as described below. Beyond that, the only personal data we receive is what you choose to send us by email, including through the contact form, which writes the email for you in your own email program.
What we collect
The contact form does not send anything to us or to any server. It prepares an email in your own email program, with your name, your organisation (which is optional), the subject of your enquiry and your message, and nothing happens until you send that email yourself. When you do, we receive the email and its contents, including your email address. We do not collect anything else, and the site does not gather data about you in the background while you browse.
Server logs and visit counts
Like every web server, ours sees the IP address your browser connects from. For each page request our own server writes one line to a log - your IP address, the time, the page requested, the response status and the referring website if your browser sends one - and nothing else, no user agent, no cookie and no identifier. Every five minutes our own analytics service, running on the same server, reads those lines, looks up the country for each IP address in a database held locally on that server, keeps only the country, the page, the hour and the referring website's name, and then empties the log. Your IP address is never stored with the counts, is never sent anywhere, and is gone from our server within five minutes. What remains is a daily tally, for example how many visits a page had from Malta, which cannot be used to identify you. No script runs in your browser for this, nothing is stored on your device, and no third party is involved.
Why we collect it
We use the information you send us to read and respond to your enquiry, and where your message relates to working with us, to take the steps you have asked for prior to a possible engagement. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond handling the enquiry you raised and any relationship that follows from it.
Lawful basis
Our lawful basis for processing the enquiries you email us is our legitimate interest in reading and responding to enquiries sent to us, balanced against your interests and rights. Where your enquiry concerns a possible engagement, the processing is also necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract.
The brief processing of your IP address in our server log is based on our legitimate interest in knowing, in aggregate, which pages are read and from which countries, so we can improve the site. We keep that interest as light as possible - the address is reduced to a country and deleted within five minutes, and nothing in your browser is read or written for it - and you can object at any time using the details below.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies, and it does not write anything to your browser's local storage or session storage. There is no analytics script, no tag manager, no advertising pixel, and no third-party script of any kind - the only measurement is the server-log count described above. Nothing is loaded from a content delivery network or an external host, so no other party receives a record of your visit. Because the site sets no cookies and does no tracking, there is no cookie banner and nothing to consent to.
How it is handled
Your enquiry reaches us as an ordinary email to our sales address, sent from your own email account, and we read and reply to it ourselves. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes. The website uses no third-party processors, no customer-relationship platform, no hosted form service and no form handler of its own.
Retention
We keep the information from your enquiry only for as long as we need it to handle that enquiry and any relationship that results from it. Once it is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it. We do not retain enquiries indefinitely, and we do not build a standing database of the people who write to us. Server-log lines, including your IP address, are deleted within five minutes of your visit; the anonymous daily counts made from them are kept.
International transfers
The website is hosted in the European Union, and its server logs and visit counts never leave our own server, so nothing is transferred anywhere when you browse it. An enquiry you email us travels through your email provider and ours, in the same way as any other email.
Your rights
In relation to the personal data we hold about you, you have the right to request access to it, to ask us to rectify it if it is inaccurate, to ask us to erase it, to ask us to restrict how we process it, and to object to our processing. Where it applies, you also have the right to data portability. If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, please get in touch using the details below.
